All men and women with recessive alport syndrome develop renal failure, usually by age 20s~30s.
People with autosomal alport syndrome usually develop renal failure by their middle age.
However, men are usually associated with a poor prognosis.
Most of men with X-linked alport syndrome will experience kidney failure in their 20s or 30s, which eventually require dialysis or kidney transplant.
